STMS Conference: Eighth International Undergraduate Research Conference on Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society
Taking place on Thursday, March 21st and Friday, March 22nd , our 2-day virtual conference features 14 excellent undergraduate submissions from multiple institutions, as well as a keynote address from Dr. Heather Douglas on her most recent research: “Revising the Social Construct in Science”. Attendees will get a chance to interact with the keynote speaker and student presenters during Q&A sessions and social hours.
The theme this year is “Individuals and Institutions of Science”, with presentations that explore the intricate relationship between individuals and institutions in our society and the constructs, practices, and ethical dilemmas that emerge as a result. Some examples include reflections on our collective understanding of concepts of motherhood, malnutrition, and disability, as well as developments in gender-affirming care, Artificial General Intelligence, and vaccinations.
