Career Panel Winter 2022: Opportunities With A Degree in HPS


HPSUS is back with another event: we’ll be featuring HPS alumni to discuss career opportunities that can happen with an HPS degree, in our career panel for the 2022 winter term at University of Toronto! This advisory panel will run from 6:00pm – 7:00pm on March 1st.

Panelists:

Nicholas Overgaard completed a PhD in Philosophy of Science at the IHPST in June 2018. Since then, he has worked for the provincial government on a variety of healthcare-related policy initiatives. Currently, he is a Senior Policy Consultant with the Ministry of Health, where he advises on how to implement new models of healthcare in Ontario.


Zoe Sebastien is an articling student at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, and will be clerking next year at the Court of Appeal for Ontario. She completed her JD at the University of Toronto, prior to which she completed a SSHRC-funded MA and BA with honours in Philosophy at the University of Toronto.

Zoe is currently co-authoring two forthcoming undergraduate textbooks on Law & Society, with Rock’s Mills Press and Oxford University Press.


Mathew Mercuri holds a Doctorate in Health Research Methods and a Doctorate in History & Philosophy of Science. He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicine at McMaster University, the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, and Victoria College at the University of Toronto.

He is also the editor-in-chief for the Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice. Before completing his Doctorate, he worked in hospital administration.
